Social media is useful in the following ways:

  • Learn about corporate culture, hierarchies, business processes, technologies, application

  • To build a network map of people

  • Select the most appropriate target for a social engineering attack

In the previous phase you should have already compiled a list of managers, employees, etc. What we have to do now is gather information on every person on this list and build the relationship among them in a company.

Tools:

  • Linkedin On linkedin, you can perform advanced search functions on people based upon: current title, position, location, company and so on.

  • Twitter

  • Facebook

  • Usenet Usenet is a worldwide distributed discussion system. It consists of a set of newsgroup with names that are classified hierarchically by subject. We can also find additional information by searching for individual's name or email in Google groups.
